Tony Hamblin is the former President of Hamblin Watsa Investment Counsel, which he co-founded with Prem Watsa in 1984. Prior to Hamblin Watsa, Tony spent 1966-1984 at Confederation Life as an Investment Analyst, Portfolio Manager and President of Confed Investment Counsel. During this time, Confederation Life was seen as one of the best investment managers in Canada and responsible for the training and development of a generation of the leading investment individuals in the country.
An entrepreneur, Tony has been involved with a number of other business start-ups including: Chairman Executive Committee of Intercity Broadcasting Network (2009-2016), Chairman of Sky Investment Counsel (2001-2013), and Chairman of Naturally Petite (2001-2006).
Mr. Hamblin has been an aviation enthusiast since his teenage years. He is an avid pilot and is currently the President of Found Aircraft Development, a company that has been responsible for the design, development, certification and manufacture of one of Canada’s finest aircraft in its class.
Mr. Hamblin has an MBA from what today is the Schulich School of Business at York University, and has a BComm degree from the University of Toronto. He is also a CFA charterholder.
